TIME: 7pm to 8pm
VENUE: Online via Zoom
Target Audience: Primary and Post-Primary Teachers of Mathematics, SEN/ASN Teachers, and Maths Coordinators/Leaders
In every classroom, pupils begin from different starting points. The question is not whether we provide support, but how we do it without fragmenting the lesson or multiplying workload. This session offers a practical model for adaptive teaching that combines explicit instruction, scaffolded practice, and independent work, with frequent, low-effort checks for understanding to decide what happens next.
The session focuses on routines teachers can implement immediately, including hinge questions, live monitoring, and “tiered support” structures that allow some pupils to receive targeted help while others continue practising or deepening their thinking. It also explores how enrichment can be framed as deeper thinking rather than simply more questions.
