Did your class enjoy completing maths puzzles and activities during Maths Week? Are you interested in trying to extend these ideas into your everyday teaching? 

In this interactive webinar, Professor Venkat will explore the use of open-ended tasks in mathematics classes. Open-ended tasks are tasks which have multiple different answers and/or multiple different solution methods. Professor Venkat will discuss different kinds of open tasks, give the audience time to engage with them, and talk through why we might want to use them in class.

Professor Hamsa Venkat - Naughton Family Chair in Early Years/Primary STEM Education, Dublin City University

Professor Hamsa Venkat holds the Naughton Family Chair in Early Years/Primary STEM Education in the School for STEM Education, Innovation and Global Studies, DCU Institute of Education. Her research focuses on primary mathematics teaching, learning, curriculum and policy, with a particular interest in interventions seeking to improve these aspects. Before joining DCU, she held the position of SA Numeracy Chair at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.
