Webinar - Video Modeling: A Social Skills Intervention for Students with Autism

Social skill deficits are a core, defining feature of autism spectrum disorder. Video modeling interventions are an evidence based practice for children and youth with autism, and are an effective means of building social skills and life skills. This webinar will provide participants with an understanding of the social challenges which students with autism are likely to experience, along with providing an overview of how to design and implement individualized video modeling interventions. Participants will learn key steps to follow when designing a video modeling intervention, along with practical considerations in implementing these interventions across school settings.

Biography - Dr. Laura Ambrose

Dr. Laura Ambrose is an Educational Psychologist and a Lecturer in Educational and Developmental Psychology at Mary Immaculate College. Laura completed her post graduate studies in educational psychology at the University of Montana and Johns Hopkins University, USA. She has worked with children with autism across a range of settings; public and private schools, pediatric hospitals, outpatient neuropsychology clinics, child development centers, and residential treatment centers. She has served on several federally funded research grants in the US, with projects focusing on building systems of transition for students with autism across all levels of the educational system, from pre-school to higher education.
