1 in 10 children will be diagnosed with Dyslexia in Ireland. This webinar will look at the perspective of both a pupil with dyslexia who has gone through primary, secondary, and now third level education with a dyslexia diagnosis and from a supportive parent who researched and fought for supports that should be automatically provided to be provided for their child. Some of the topics we will be discussing are: waiting lists for diagnosis, learning support, language exemptions and the DARE application process.

SPEAKER - Roisin Lowe (Marino Institute of Education)

Róisín Lowe is currently in her final year of teacher training (primary school level) in Marino Institute of Education. She has been a member of the Dyslexia Association Ireland (DAI) since she was six. In 2016, she became an ambassador for the DAI and raised awareness about having a “fair race” in terms of the Leaving Certificate examination. Since then she has raised awareness of teachers with dyslexia in third level education in Ireland and student teachers with learning difficulties. She has a keen interest in researching and supporting teachers with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
