Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Effective revision techniques, Teaching and learning strategies and resources to share and implement in Post Primary Classrooms

Target audience: Post Primary Teachers, Leaders, NQT's and PME students
This webinar aims to provide NQTs, PME students and experienced teachers of all subjects with innovative and adaptive strategies/resources. These strategies will provide students with the opportunity for retrieval practice and dual coding while engaging and motivating them in the lead up to their exams.
Aims of the session:
- To provide teachers with adaptive digital and traditional resources through an interdepartmental approach to promote effective pedagogy and revision techniques. These strategies can be used in the initial teaching and learning phase and can be revisited by the students throughout their learning journey and/or as a revision tool prior to a class test or house/state exam.
- To showcase ways to utilize the “Flip” app previously known as “Flipgrid” by Microsoft for the promotion of student voice, student self-assessment, teacher feedback in any subject area and as a communicative practice tool in the teaching of Gaeilge, Modern Foreign languages and EAL.
- To provide teachers with editable and adaptable templates/resources/strategies.
- To help your students build connections between vocabulary/grammar points and visuals through both digital and traditional learning methods (dual coding)
- To help you motivate and empower your students to learn, revise and prepare for exams efficiently through the provision of adaptable examples of retrieval practice strategies and resources.
- Adaptable templates and adaptive pedagogical strategies with instructional short video presentations for innovative learning and revision will be provided post webinar.
Profile – Rosann Henry
Rosann is an experienced Post Primary teacher of Gaeilge and Geography with a passion for innovative teaching and learning strategies, mentoring, collaboration, Restorative Practice and Podcasting.
She graduated with a Masters in Management in Education at SETU Waterford in 2022, as part of her studies she held student focus groups and surveys on the topic of ‘what is a good teacher?’ (as part of the ‘Mentoring’ module ) and gained great insight from the student feedback.
She established an online platform within “Abbey Community College, Ferrybank and named it the “Abbey Innovation Station” promoting a culture of sharing resources and pedagogical strategies on a cross-departmental basis. She also presented at the KCETB teach meet conference on the topic of interdepartmental collaboration and sharing of resources.
Rosann completed a Certificate in Restorative Practice in 2022 (SETU Carlow). She is passionate about the use of restorative practices both inside and outside the classroom and regularly incorporates RP tools in her classroom.
Rosann loves a good Podcast and with the help of a group of enthusiastic students at ACC she set up a school Podcast named ‘Student Insights’ on Spotify. She believes podcast production to be a great way to facilitate an opportunity to build students’ confidence and communication skills while inspiring both student and teacher voice in a fun and interactive way.
