Being on your own team: The Science of Self-Kindness
Date: Thursday, 12th February 2026
Time: 7pm to 8.00pm
Venue: Online via Zoom
Target Audience: Primary and Post Primary Teachers, SNAs and Early Years Educators
For those working in education, so much energy is devoted to supporting pupils, colleagues, and families that as individuals your own wellbeing is often overlooked.
Being on Your Own Team: The Science of Self-Kindness offers a practical and evidence-based introduction to self-compassion, an approach shown to enhance resilience, emotional regulation, and sustainable caring.
Through gentle reflection and accessible strategies, this session explores why many of us speak to ourselves more critically than we would ever speak to others, and how this internal dialogue shapes stress, motivation, and professional effectiveness.
Participants will:
1) Learn the core principles of self-compassion, understand the research behind its benefits,
2) Try out simple tools to reframe unhelpful self-talk and respond to themselves with greater understanding.
This session is designed to create space, insight, and encouragement for those working in education to begin treating themselves with the same warmth and care they offer every day to others.
